Product Description

Peloponnese, Greece

Skouras Red is a nice introduction to the red wines of Greece. The Peloponnese region is a large peninsula in southern Greece, forming the part of the country south of the Gulf of Corinth. Domaine Skouras was established in 1986 in Pyrgela, Argos, by Dijon-trained oenologist George Skouras. In 1988 Skouras launched his Megas Oenos label, the first winemaker to blend the Greek grape Saint George with Cabernet Sauvignon. Megas Oenos is now one of the most highly acclaimed Greek wines. Skouras Red combines the same two varietals in a smooth blend of 95% Saint George (also called Aghiorghitiko) and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1996 a small winery was built at Ghymno, one of the villages inside the Nemea Appellation of Origin zone. In 2004 Domaine Skouras started operating from its beautiful facility at Malandreni.

Skouras Red offers aromas and flavors of raspberries, cherries and sweet spices. Enjoy Skouras Red with souvlaki, burgers, lamb and sharp cheeses.
