Ancien Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is our latest red wine gem from California! Ancien Wines are made by Ken and Teresa Bernards, who have made acclaimed wines for other producers prior to focusing on their own label, Ancien. They possess a passion for the Burgundian varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with an emphasis on capturing the essence of terroir. This wine is sourced from the cooler, western side of the Russian River Valley, closer to the chilly Pacific breezes and less protected by coastal hills. It was produced entirely from Dijon 115 clones and grown on characteristic sandy Russian River soils. Having once produced the flavorful Gravenstein apples Sebastopol is known for, the soils of this vineyard have transitioned nicely to produce explosively fruity Pinot Noirs with bright cherry flavors and spice. This wine is considered by the winemaker to be the most approachable and hedonistic of all the Ancien Pinots. Just 480 cases produced.

Ancien Pinot Noir is garnet red in color with an aromatic nose of black cherry, raspberry, strawberry, toast, licorice and spices. It has medium body and bright acidity with a velvety texture and flavors of sweet cherry, strawberry, vanilla and spice. The wine was aged entirely in French oak barrels, 50% new. It will drink beautifully now and over the next 5-7 years. The finish is long, rich and lingering.
