Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Haut-Lieu is a white wine gem from the Loire Valley of France made of 100% Chenin Blanc. Since its founding in 1928, Vouvray’s Domaine Huët has been the standard-bearer for great, ageworthy Chenin Blanc. And to this day, year after year, the estate produces some of the world’s most compelling white wines. The estate’s first vineyard, purchased in 1928. Its nine hectares have the richest soils and, generally, yields the most precocious wines. This is a beautiful example of the appellation and an ideal wine to enjoy with food, showing nice minerality and intense fruit. Wine Spectator has rated every vintage since 2007 at 90 points or above! This is a very special wine, with only 2000 cases produced.
“From limestone-clay soils, the golden-yellow colored 2017 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Sec displays a deep and refined nose with fine chalky notes intermixed with juicy and well-concentrated lemon aromas. The attack on the palate is smooth, ripe and elegant. In fact, this is a very juicy, round, refined and persistently structured Vouvray with intensity, power and concentration but also fine acidity. It displays a long, vital, beautifully tensioned finish with grip and candied lemon, grapefruit and orange zest flavors. With dine yet tight tannins, this is an excellent, very elegant and textured Haut-Lieu that already drinks very well but will improve over time. Drink 2022-2045.”—Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, 93+ points!
Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Haut-Lieu is soft yellow-green in color with bright acidity. It is medium in body with an aromatic nose of white peach, melon, almond and mineral notes. The wine offers a lush texture with bold flavors of peaches, green apples, pears, ginger and marzipan. It is clean and refreshing with good length on the finish.
Enjoy Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Haut-Lieu over the next 7-8 years with roast chicken, grilled sole with a creamy morel sauce, crab salad and goat cheese.
