2008 Domaine La Garrigue Cuvee Romaine Cotes du Rhone

Product Description
Rhone, France
Domaine La Garrigue Cuvee Romaine Cotes du Rhone is a custom cuvee made by brilliant enologist Philippe Cambie for American importer Eric Solomon of European Cellars. Domaine La Garrigue is one of the oldest estates in the region, owned by the Bernard family (also proprietors of the esteemed Les Florets restaurant in Gigondas.) Made primarily from declassified Vacqueyras vines, this blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah comes from the estate's oldest head-pruned vines, 60-90 years old. This red wine gem comes from the southern Rhone valley, one of the most beautiful wine regions of the world with its picturesque villages dotting a landscape of rolling hillside vineyards. Since the 1998 vintage, Domaine la Garrigue Cuvee Romaine has been rated 90 points or better by Robert Parker! Even with an 89-point rating for the 2008 vintage, this is a true wine gem!
Domaine La Garrigue Cuvee Romaine Cotes du Rhone is deep ruby red in color with a gorgeous nose of jammy black raspberry, cherry, cassis, herbs and spice. Full-bodied with moderate tannins, it was aged for 18 months in tank (80%) and oak (20%.) Well balanced to enjoy over the next 5-6 years, it is rich with lingering fruit on the finish.
Enjoy Domaine La Garrigue Cuvee Romaine Cotes du Rhone as an ideal accompaniment to lamb chops, skirt steak, burgers and grilled vegetables.
