El Puntido Rioja is a gorgeous expression of the Tempranillo grape from Vinedos de Paganos. This winery's vineyards lie in the medieval town of Laguardia at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria mountain range, imparting a unique mineral character to its wines. The 2005 vintage of El Puntido was rated 94 points by Wine Advocate and 92 points by Josh Raynolds for International Wine Cellar. By any standard, this wine is a wine gem!
El Puntido Rioja is dark purple-ruby in color with aromas of blackberry, plum, cassis, earth and spice. With full body and a creamy, mouthfilling texture, this big red shows off rich flavors of blackberry, mulberry, coffee and toast. The tannins are full and tame to afford cellaring over the next 10-12 years. Long and complex on the finish.
Enjoy El Puntido with roast lamb, grilled sirloin, paella and cheeses.
