JC Cellars The First Date is a beautiful blend of two northern Rhone varietals that may conjure up sweet memories or set the mood for creating new ones! This California white wine gem is 75% Roussanne and 25% Marsanne. When we met with owner/winemaker Jeff Cohn to taste this wine last summer, he noted that the Roussanne adds great perfume and a certain delicacy while the Marsanne adds richness and body to the wine. The back label copy sums up this enticing wine nicely: “The start of something special, your heart pounds; the spark of a new romance. JC Cellars The First Date was made from fruit harvested at the peak of ripeness. The wine is deep yellow-gold in color with full body and a rich, mouth-coating texture. It shows flavors of honey, spiced peach cobbler, mango and apple pie balanced by a core of minerality and acidity that makes the wine pair well with richer foods. The finish goes on and on.
