2006 Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel

Product Description
Lodi, California
Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel was made of grapes harvested from 11 different vineyard blocks of gnarly vines ranging from 35 to 110 years old in the loamy soils of Lodi. Owners Steve and Lori Felten, fifth-generation grape growers in the Lodi region, continue the family tradition of cultivating Old Vine Zinfandel vineyards planted by their ancestors in the early 1900’s. The winery is named for Klinker Bricks, the highly prized bricks that grace many of the historical buildings in Lodi. Klinker Bricks were selected by architects in the 1920’s for their distinctive qualities, including unique shapes, enormous density and dark, rich color. The Feltens strive to bring these same qualities to their old vine Zinfandel. We find this one a real wine gem not to be missed!
For the 2006 vintage, the weather was nearly perfect for growing exceptional fruit, extending the "hang-time" for the grapes to remain on the vine. Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel is deep brick red in color with enticing aromas of blackberry, brambleberry and black raspberry. It is full in body with a rich mouthfeel and flavors of dark berries, vanilla and spice. It was aged in American oak. The wine is well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 5-6 years. Its finish is smooth and lingering.
Enjoy Klinker Brick Old Vine Zinfandel with BBQ pork ribs, steak, spicy Asian fare and sharp cheeses.
