La Massa Giorgio Primo Toscano is a gorgeous red wine gem from this maverick Tuscan winery. Naples-born producer Giampaolo Motta took Giorgio Primo out of the Chianti Classico DOCG in this excellent 2006 vintage to create a super-Tuscan IGT blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon worthy of the coveted Tre Bicchieri award from Italy's revered Gambero Rosso. Bravo! Not surprisingly, this big red also earned a 94-point rating from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

Giorgio Primo is deep garnet red in color with full body and a rich mouthfeel. It offers flavors of blackberry, cassis, cinnamon, cloves and raisins. The wine's texture is velvety and its tannins are well-integrated. The finish is long and beautifully lingering.
