2007 Longview Red Bucket Shiraz-Cabernet

Longview Vineyard is an exciting new addition to our portfolio from the Adelaide Hills region of South Australia. Longview Vineyard is just south of the historic township of Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills, about 40 minutes southeast of the city of Adelaide. We recently had the pleasure of tasting new releases with Peter Saturno, whose family now owns this property. The Red Bucket wines we tasted, both red and white, were simply stunning values. This Red Bucket Shiraz Cabernet won the Gold Medal at the esteemed Royal Perth Wine Show 2008. It is a blend of Barossa Shiraz (66%) and Adelaide Hills Cabernet Sauvignon (34%) resulting in a red wine gem of great depth and complexity.

Longview Red Bucket Shiraz Cabernet is dark ruby red with full body and a nose exuding ripe dark berry fruit, spice and vanilla. Secondary fermentation took place in old and new French oak—a mixture of barriques and hogs heads. Rich and flavorful on the palate, it is nicely balanced with well integrated oak and a long, smooth finish.
