Numanthia Termes is a gorgeous Spanish red wine made by Bodega Numanthia Termes in the region of Toro. It is 100% Tempranillo, known here as Tinto de Toro. Numanthia takes its name from the people of Numancia, who heroically resisted the Roman legions in the first century B.C. The vineyards are located on the south bank of the Duero River. Termes is the most affordable of the family of wines from Bodega Numanthia Termes, which includes Numanthia and Termanthia. Dr. Jay Miller of The Wine Advocate called this wine a "fantastic value in great wine." This new 2006 release is a real wine gem, rated 93 points by Wine Spectator. Very limited!

Numanthia Termes is deep ruby-purple in color, bursting with a gorgeous bouquet of cassis, blackberry, blueberry, cedar, spice, chocolate, and toasty oak. Full in body with velvety tannins and moderate acidity, the wine offers up rich flavors of blackberry, black currant, milk chocolate, spice, and vanilla. It was aged for 16 months in one-year-old French oak barriques. Powerful, layered and complex, it is well balanced to enjoy now and will reward cellaring over the next 10-12 years. It is mouth-coating with excellent length on the finish.
