Maremma Toscana IGT, Italy
Wine Spectator 92 points! (on the 2021 vintage)
La Mozza Cabernet Sauvignon I Perazzi is a beautiful Cab from the Maremma subregion of Tuscany. Located in the heart of the wildest Maremma, La Mozza covers 36 hectares, of which 16 are vineyards. Located entirely in the municipality of Magliano in Toscana, an almost uncontaminated area of wild beauty, surrounded by pastures, arable land and forests, where many wild animals still roam. This area is much drier than the fog-draped hills of central Tuscany. The lack of morning mist means the grapes start ripening at sunrise, and are sun-drenched until sunset. Rain is scarce as the Island of Elba off the coast acts as a windbreak, shifting eastbound moisture to the north and south.
“This is bright and lively, offering cherry, blackberry, wild herb and iron flavors. Light tannins grace the finish, leaving a sense of balance and fine length. Salty finish. Drink now through 2030. 2,250 cases made, 2,250 cases imported.”—Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 92 points! (on the 2021 vintage)
La Mozza Cabernet I Perazzi is a truly Tuscan Cabernet, in which the great Bordeaux variety is interpreted with Maremma style: maximum ripeness and highest quality. Intense fruit, notes of ripe blueberry and wild black berries, with hints of spices that express the beauty of Cabernet without ever showing any of the varietal's herbaceousness or green pepper qualities.
Enjoy La Mozza Cabernet Sauvignon I Perazzi with veal, pasta, osso buco, and aged cheeses.
