Charles Cimicky Petite Sirah is a very special red wine gem from Down Under that's been highly praised by Wine Advocate. Review by Jay S Miller Wine Advocate # 173 (Oct 2007) Rating: 94 Drink 2007 - 2035 "The 2005 Petite Syrah is the first release from a vineyard Charles Cimicky planted eight years ago. It was aged for 19 months in 50% new oak, a mix of French and American. The wine is a thick opaque purple in color with aromas of pain grille, smoke, blueberry preserves, and blackberry liqueur. Full-bodied and loaded with flavor, this powerful effort is well-balanced and very long in the finish. It has enough structure to evolve for at least a decade and should drink well through 2035 for those young enough and patient enough to bury it in the cellar. Founded in 1973, the winery is now run by Charles Cimicky who succeeded his father at the helm. Charles Cimicky has established a reputation for both high quality and excellent values."
Robert Parker also loved this wine in his review in October 2006: "An amazing offering from Australia, the 2005 Petite Syrah (100% Petite Syrah aged in French wood of which 35% was new) reveals a black color, extraordinary intensity, and hints of blueberries, graphite, and acacia flowers, stunning texture, and massive concentration."
