Vin de France (Cairanne)
Clos des Mourres Pompette Rosé is a delightful dry rosé from the southern Rhone. Ingrid & Jean-Philippe Bouchet cultivate vines on 5-hectares in Cairanne, oriented on the northwestern slope of the Col du Débat. A natural drainage of the vines occurs thanks to the direct exposure to the Mistral wind. The plots are located between 200 and 280 meters above sea level, on mainly clay-limestone soils. They also work 10 hectares of vines around their farm which were added in Vaison la Romaine in 2012. The soil is mainly sandy there and allows for the production of wines with a different structure than the wines of Cairanne. Bottling is done according to the lunar calendar (biodynamic). Farming is organic and harvesting by hand. No sulfites added.
Clos des Mourres Pompette Rosé is made of 100% direct-press Caladoc (a hybrid of Grenache and Cot) from 40-year old vines on soils of clay, loam, and sand in Cairanne. The wine aged for 8-10 months on malo lees without racking. Bright pink in color with beautiful balance, it offers flavors of cherry, raspberry, blood orange and fresh herbs.
Enjoy Clos des Mourres Pompette Rosé over the next 3-4 years on the patio with friends or paired with roast chicken, grilled snapper, steamers, Cobb salad and goat cheese.
