Description

Piedmont, Italy

“Dave Fletcher is the winemaker at Ceretto and also makes a few wines under his own label. In recent years, Fletcher has focused more on Barbaresco. Perhaps that explains why the 2019s are especially fine. I very much admire the vibrancy in these wines, which are also a step up from some of the earlier efforts.”—Antonio Galloni, Vinous

David Fletcher's Barbaresco Recta Pete (his historical Scottish family clan name that means Shoot Straight) is a beautiful introduction to Barbaresco. This wine is a take on the tradition of blending vineyards that the region was once famous for and continues to be so with the wines like Monfortino and Gaja (in the past). It is a wine built to express the best of the region, in the sense that sourcing fruit from several vineyards allows for the art of blending to come into action. Should one vineyard not perform to its best in a particular vintage, it will not be included in the blend. Each vineyard adds to the different layers of the wine and enhances its complexity. This Barbaresco comes from the two crus, Starderi and Roncaglie.

Fletcher Barbaresco Recta Pete is 100% Nebbiolo fermented with native yeasts in open-top fermenters and aged for 2 years in old 300-liter French oak barrels before bottling without fining or filtration. Focused, vibrant and bursting with red fruits, this powerful Barbaresco will drink beautifully over the next decade.

Enjoy Fletcher Barbaresco Recta Pete with osso buco, lasagna, veal chops and aged cheeses.
