Scotland Aberlour Scotch Single Malt 18 Year Ultimate Beverage Challenge 94 points - This is a decadent dram with luscious aromatics of roasted figs, golden raisins, and dried apricot. The palate follows in a similarly luxurious fashion and has a chewy texture of ripe peach skin and sweet creamed oats. March/2017 Whisky Advocate 92 points - This has a significant proportion of sherry wood and it marks a real step up from its younger stablemates. It boasts a stylish nose of old leathery cigar boxes, vanilla, and orange marmalade. Syrupy on the palate, with oranges, sweet sherry, honey, and figs. Spicy oak, caramel, citrus fruits, and aniseed in the lengthy finish. Reviewed by Gavin Smith (Summer 2018). July/2018 Rich and complex, notes of toffee and butterscotch combine with ripe peach and bitter orange. Perfect structure. Initial notes of soft apricot and cream are offset by developing flavours of old leather and oak with a touch of honey.
