Description

Rhone, France Wine Advocate 87-89 points! Domaine Alary Cotes du Rhone La Gerbaude is a gorgeous red wine gem of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan. The Alary family's involvement in viticulture and wine production dates back as far as 1692, to the reign of Louis XIV. Tradition, passion and 'savoir faire' are key elements to tendering vines and maturing wines and the acquired experience has been passed on from one generation to the next. In all, 10 generations have successively played their part in building this edifice, guided by a healthy respect for nature and for the general environment. Proof of this conviction can be found in a later stage in the development of the vineyard with Denis' decision in 2009 to convert to organic farming. La Gerbaude is from the region's "terroir garrigues" (terraces of scrubland, limestone and clay soils covered with pebbles). Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard and also before entering the cellar. "The final blend of the 2018 Cotes du Rhone la Gerbaude, tasted prior to bottling, is 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Carignan. Loaded with black cherry fruit, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and easy to drink, with hints of dried spices on the finish." Drink 2020-2025-Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 87-89 points! Enjoy Domaine Alary Cotes du Rhone La Gerbaude with lamb chops, skirt steak, burgers and grilled vegetables.
