Description

Crete, Greece

Ampelourgein Anthosmia is a beautiful natural Greek white wine blend of the varieties Dafni, Thrapsathiri & Moschato spinas. The Ampelourgein winery was created by Nikos Papadakis in 1997. It is located in the village Schinokapsala of Lasithi on Crete and produces natural wines with minimal additives from local Cretan grape varieties. The vineyards are scattered in the mountains of Lasithi without intensive farming at an altitude of 850-1150 meters, far away from atmospheric pollution. Wild and hard but also a blessed place away from phylloxera.

Ampelourgein Anthosmia is a complex wine with an aromatic bouquet entirely born in the vineyard. Thyme, sage and other mountain herbs and plants transmit their natural yeasts to the skins of the grapes for the creation of the primary aromas and then with fermentation the complex secondary aromas are created. The indigenous Thrapsathiri enriches the body and gives a robust character to the wine. The Moschato offers its concentrated acidity and the floral notes that ensure the harmonic balance of the wine. Dafni from 1100 meters altitude offers a unique botanical and mineral character for a pleasant aftertaste. The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks at low temperature and stays on the lees for 4-7 months.

Enjoy Ampelourgein Anthosmia as a refreshing aperitif wine and with grilled snapper with fruit salsa, grilled octopus, roasted chicken and summer salads.
