Santa Ynez Valley, California Beckmen Cabernet Sauvignon is a newly discovered gem in our portfolio. Founded in 1994 by Judy and Tom Beckmen, Beckmen Vineyards is a family-run, estate-grown winery in the Santa Ynez Valley. Since its inception, Beckmen Vineyards has evolved through a harmonious marriage of insight and inspiration to become one of North America's premier producers of estate Rhone varietals. Convinced of the tremendous potential of the Santa Ynez Valley, Tom Beckmen undertook an extensive and painstaking search for the ideal location to establish Beckmen Vineyards. He finally found what he was looking for on a small and neglected 40-acre parcel with an existing small winery. Together, Tom and his winemaker son Steve began polishing this jewel in the rough. For Beckmen Vineyards and the Santa Ynez Valley, 2007 was one of the best growing seasons ever for Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit enjoyed a long summer of warm days and cool nights and benefited from good hangtime to develop intensity and flavor. The result is a wine full in body with jammy black cherry aromatics, red berry and currant fruit flavors and accents of chocolate and cedar. Though absolutely ready to drink now, this wine's structure will allow it to age for up to a decade. All Beckmen wines are 100% estate grown, produced and bottled. This Cabernet was barrel aged for 19 months in 50% neutral and 50% new French and American oak. Only 1200 cases of this Cab were produced.
