Description

Languedoc-Roussillon, France Parker 94-96! Bila-Haut Occultum Lapidem Cotes du Roussillon Villages is a wonderful red wine gem from the Roussillon region of southwest France. Renowned Rhone producer Michel Chapoutier created this new wine venture, Les Vignes de Bila-Haut, in the Roussillon, the sunniest wine region of France. The vineyards are located on the slopes of the high Agly Valley. The soil is composed of gneiss and schist from the Devonian Period. The grapes were harvested by hand. Robert Parker gave this 2011 vintage an astounding score of 94-96 points! Don't miss it! Bila-Haut Occultum Lapidem is a red blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. It is deep garnet red in color with a beautiful nose of blackberry, plums, black currants, olives and garrigue. Full-bodied with firm tannins, it offers intense flavors of cassis, kirsch and spice. Well balanced to enjoy over the next 12-15 years, it is rich with lingering fruit on the finish. Enjoy Bila-Haut Occultum Lapidem as an ideal accompaniment to lamb chops, steak, truffle omelette and ripe cheeses.
