Description

Campo de Borja, Spain Vinous 91 points! James Suckling 90 points! Borsao Berola is a beautiful blend of 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, hailed by many of the world's wine critics as an awesome value. We consider this wine one of the top gems of Spanish wine. The grapes come from vineyards that are between 35 and 40 years old. Located on uneven terrain at an altitude of 600 to 700 meters, these vineyards yield under four and a half tons of grapes per hectare, affording superb richness and concentration in the wine. "Opaque ruby. Pungent smoke- and spice-accented aromas of raspberry, blueberry and vanilla, develop a smoky nuance as the wine opens up. In an extroverted style, offering sweet red and blue fruit and cola flavors and a hint of white pepper that adds back-end bite. A sexy floral note appears on the gently tannic finish, which clings with strong intensity."--Josh Raynolds, Vinous 91 points! James Suckling 90 points - "Light and crisp, but also full of character with some nice red-cherry aromas that pull you back for more and, with each sip, the wine seems to expand a bit more. Drink now or hold." Enjoy Borsao Berola over the next 3-4 years with roast pork, grilled vegetables, burgers and cheeses.
