Greg Brewer was named Winemaker of the Year 2020 by Wine Enthusiast!

Brewer-Clifton Pinot Noir Machado is a superb single-vineyard Pinot from the Santa Rita Hills appellation. In the words of Founder/Winemaker Greg Brewer, “We are committed to a finite stretch of land within the Sta. Rita Hills appellation even before we mapped and defined it some twenty years ago. From our first working moments here in the early 1990’s, we have been lured and seduced by this magnificent wine growing area. The pure crystalline sand soils under our feet and the salty air blowing continuously from the rugged nearby sea set an immediate hook from which we could never escape. Looking to secure a mirror-image sister ranch to our 3D Vineyard, we began working with the Machado family in the winter of 2008. Our 15-acre parcel on their land is located adjacent to Clos Pepe and immediately behind the Kessler-Haak Vineyard. The site is marked by a gorgeous rolling terrain with sandy loam soils.”

“The 2015 Pinot Noir Machado shows the more briny, tight, firm style of the 2015 vintage as well as medium-bodied richness, terrific purity, building tannins, and solid length. As with a lot of 2015s, it needs another year or two of bottle age.”—Jeb Dunnuck, 93+ points!

“Pale ruby-purple in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Machado is scented of kirsch and pomegranate with an undercurrent of forest floor, sautéed herbs, cinnamon stick and fallen leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate packs in the intense red berry and earthy flavors with a chewy backbone supporting the dense fruit through the long, lively finish. Drink 2017-2023.”—Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 93 points!
