Description

Sicily, Italy Calea Nero d'Avola is a delightful red wine gem from Sicily. Nero d'Avola is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and it is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. This wine comes from various vineyards in the western part of Sicily grown in volcanic clay soils. Calea Nero d'Avola is deep ruby in color with medium-full body. With a beguiling bouquet of violets, blueberry and black olives, this wine draws you in with its warm and generous nature. On the palate the texture is smooth and elegant, and the finish unfolds with considerable complexity, revealing nuances of mineral earth, ripe dark fruits, and hints of cedar. It was fermented in tank and aged for 4 months prior to release. This red is soft and lingering on the finish. Enjoy Calea Nero d'Avola over the next 4-5 years with osso bucco, lasagna, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
