Camus-Bruchon Savigny-Les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres is a beautiful red Burgundy from a parcel planted in the 1960s. Guillaume Camus of Domaine Camus-Bruchon is one of the most sure-handed red winemakers in the Côte de Beaune. Located in the village of Savigny-les-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune proper, the Camus fashion beautifully balanced, deep and complex wines that are the epitome of what great Burgundy is all about. The family has a lovely spread of top vineyards in Savigny-les-Beaune (both superb premier crus and a handful of top village wine parcels planted with very old pinot noir vines), as well as a bit of premier cru in Beaune and Pommard as well. This wine spent 12 to 18 months in 30% new French oak barrels. Only 3000 bottles produced.
“The 2018 les Lavières from Guillaume Camus is a gorgeous wine in the making. The bouquet is pure, elegant and potentially sappy, offering up a nascently complex blend of red and black cherries, plums, dark chocolate, violets, gamebird, a superb base of soil tones and a deft framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and really deep in the midpalate, with a suave sense of balance, fine-grained tannins and a long, tangy and very, very refined finish. This is a great Savigny in the making! 2028-2065.”—View from the Cellar, 94 points!
