Description

Campania, Italy Cantina del Taburno Fidelis Aglianico is a delightful red wine gem from the Campania region of southern Italy. It is 90% Aglianico blended with 10% Sangiovese. Robert Parker calls Cantina del Taburno "one of Campania's most promising estates." No ratings yet on this 2009 vintage, but Antonio Galloni for Wine Advocate rated both the 2006 and 2007 Fidelis 90 points! Campania's Aglianico del Taburno DOC is an excellent source of Aglianico. Located north of Naples at an elevation of 1,000 feet, the region has a long growing season, hot days and moderately cool nights. Volcanic soil supports the vines. The winemaker is Professor Luigi Moio of the University of Naples, formerly with Feudi San Gregorio. Cantina del Taburno Fidelis Aglianico is ruby red in color with full body and a sweet nose of berries, black cherries, leather, spice and licorice. Soft and pleasing on the palate, it offers abundant flavors of dark berries, black cherries, almonds and spice. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in a combination of large oak casks and used French-oak barrriques, it is well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 5-6 years. The finish is long and complex. Enjoy Cantina del Taburno Fidelis Aglianico with roast beef, BBQ ribs, steak, pasta with meat sauces and grilled vegetables.
