Description
Graves de Vayres, Bordeaux, France
Chateau Cantelaudette Graves de Vayres Blanc is a beautiful white blend of 85% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. The vineyards are located between Bordeaux and Libourne, on a plateau overlooking the Dordogne River on sandy clay soil. Perfect trellising, extreme canopy management and high density planting are all employed to increase concentration and promote even ripening. Grapes are hand harvested. Grapes are destemmed and gently pressed at low pressure. The juice is then cooled, then fermented in temp-controlled tanks. The resulting wine is aged on its lees until April of the following year.
The appellation Graves de Vayres takes its name from the gravelly soils and the proximity to the village of Vayres. This mineral driven white has delicate aromas of melon and citrus with a faint hint of wood. It's an over-performing White Graves look-alike for about a third of the price!
Chateau Cantelaudette Graves de Vayres Blanc pairs perfectly with grilled snapper, roast chicken, summer salads and mild cheeses.
