Macon Milly-Lamartine, Burgundy, France Eole is a beautiful white Burgundy of 100% Chardonnay. Chateau des Bois is located in the commune of Sologny in Southern Burgundy at the junction of the Mâcon and Cluny. This impressive Chateau was built in the early 1800's, but it is also rich in medieval history as it is located not far from the prestigious Cluny Abbey. Xavier Greuzard, who is the son of Isabelle and Vincent Greuzard of Chateau de la Greffiere, and his wife Lucie, acquired this property in 2012 because the vines are in Milly Lamartine - one of the best terroirs of the Maconnais with its clay-limestone soil and close proximity to the famous Roche de Solutre. Xavier is as hard-working as his parents and is a very promising young vigneron who practices sustainable farming. Eole comes from the oldest vineyards of the Chateau des Bois estate and is 100% barrel-aged on the lees. Named after the Greek god Eole, the master of the winds in Greek mythology, who has blown us this wine from the constantly breeze-beaten hills of Sologny. The wine is medium-full in body, yellow-gold in color, crisp and clean with balanced acidity. It offers beautiful flavors of green apples with hints of honey, citrus and white stone fruit.
