Bordeaux, France Chateau Fantin Bordeaux Superieur is a great-value red wine gem from the wonderful 2012 vintage in Bordeaux. This wine is a traditional blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from outstanding vineyards. Merlot gives the wine its roundness and Cabernet Franc its spiciness. This blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc is harvested by hand from steeply-sloped vineyards overlooking the Dordogne. The winegrower is J.M. Chatelier. Harvesting is done by hand to reduce the risk of oxidation and to prevent as much damage to the grapes as possible. Chateau Fantin Bordeaux Superieur is dark ruby red in color with aromas of blackberry, plum, spice and tobacco. Medium-full in body with moderate acidity and velvety tannins, this Bordeaux offers rich flavors of plums, blackberries, cassis and spice. It is nicely balanced to be enjoyed now and over the next 4-5 years. The wine is smooth and long on the finish.
