Chateau Pegau Cotes du Rhone Blanc Cuvee Lone is a gorgeous white wine gem from this famous French appellation better known for its reds. Domaine du Pegau is an estate bottler of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, owned by Paul Feraud and his daughter Laurence. Recognized as one of the top estates in Chateauneuf, its wines are considered among the world's greatest. Though supply is far outweighed by demand, prices remain reasonable for those able to seek out and purchase these wines. The name Lone means an offshoot from a main river. For Chateau Pegau, this Lone is parallel to the Rhone River at a much slower rate of flow.
Chateau Pegau Cotes du Rhone Blanc Cuvee Lone is a white blend of 40% Clairette, 30% Bourboulenc, 20% Grenache Blanc, and 10% Ugni Blanc from vines averaging 35 to 60 years in age planted in stony, clay-based soils. Harvested by hand. Offers aromas of acacia, nectarines and pears on the nose, with a touch of exotic fruit. Bright and well-balanced on the palate, with a long finish.
"Lemon-peel and dried-grass notes. Some light, dried herbs, too. The palate is smooth and fleshy with ripe-melon and grilled-pear flavors. Seductive, textural build." -James Suckling, 92 points!
