Loire, France Chais Saint-Laurent Chinon La Vigne en Veron is a beautiful red wine gem of 100% Cabernet Franc from the Chinon appellation of the Loire. Chais Saint-Laurent is the second label of Foucher-Lebrun, the petit negociant specializing in the wines of the Loire Valley. Foucher-Lebrun was founded in 1921 by Paulin Lebrun, a cooper by trade, who developed his company servicing a clientele made up of restaurants and cafés. This Chinon comes from the villages of Rivière, Beaumont-en-Véron and Savigny-en-Véron. The soils here are a mix of Argilo-Calcaire and gravel which tend to produce wines that are a bit more approachable with soft tannins and lovely fruit. Chais Saint-Laurent Chinon is soft ruby red with nicely balanced acidity. Medium in body, it is bright, fresh and aromatic, with lovely red fruit and soft tannins. Oak treatment is subtle, with the majority of the wine aged in used barriques and the balance in tank. It is clean and refreshing with good length on the finish.
