Description

Saint-Estephe, Bordeaux, France Wine Enthusiast 91 points! Chateau La Commanderie Saint-Estephe is a beautiful right-bank red Bordeaux. The name of the estate refers to the “Commanderie des Templiers,” constructed in the 12th century. The Meffre family fell in love with it in 1956 and continues to take meticulous care of their vines, creating a sophisticated St.-Estèphe worth your while. The estate consists of two plots of vineyards, one adjoining Chateau Montrose and the second opposite Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from gravel soils. Aged for 12 months in barrels - 1/3 of which were new. From a fine vintage, this Bordeaux will drink well for years. "This wine has weight and rich fruit. It also offers the tannins and structure associated with Saint-Estèphe, which balance the generous potential of the blackberry flavors. Half-and-half Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the wine needs to age. Drink from 2025."-Wine Enthusiast 91 points! Enjoy Chateau La Commanderie Saint-Estephe with roast duck, veal, ratatouille, and aged cheeses.
