Languedoc, France
Colline de l’hirondelle Oiseau is a beautiful red blend from the Languedoc in southern France. This is a family-run organic winery owned by Didier Ferrier and Jennifer Buck. “Colline de l’hirondelle (Swallow Hill) is where we live and make our wine on a hill surrounded by vineyards just outside the small French village of Douzens. We chose the literal path of naming the winery for what was actually there: a hill (“Colline” in French) overlooking vineyards actually called “The Swallow” on the town land registry. We figured that at least people in our village of 800 would be able to find us. The fact that the name was completely unpronounceable in English, my native language, didn’t occur to me at the time. Didier and I founded our small family winery as a way of working in harmony with our convictions. We want to live slowly, observing the natural cycles around us and following a rhythm dictated by the seasons, making wines that reflect the particular character of our vineyards.”—Jennifer Buck
Oiseau is a wine that is both powerful and sleek with aromas of fragrant black fruit, violet and toasted cinnamon. A blend of 40% Carignan, 35% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre made in the tradition of the Corbières.
Enjoy Colline de l’hirondelle Oiseau over the next 4-6 years with grilled steak, barbecue, ratatouille, and aged cheeses.
