Attilio Delsignore founded Cantina Delsignore in 1960 after marrying into the Nervi family, longtime owners of vineyards in Gattinara. The denomination Coste della Sesia belongs to a special area at the beginning of Valsesia in the northwest of Piedmont, which is located on the right and left banks of the Sesia River. "Spanna" is the local name for Nebbiolo. Much about this wine is reminiscent of the more noble Gattinara: the ruby red color, the fine floral bouquet, the dry palate and the full-bodied flavor. Its lower alcohol degree and a shorter aging make it a simpler and more readily drinkable wine.
