Due Dune Calipso 2023

Due Dune Calipso is a beautiful dry natural white wine from Umbria. Giampiero Diruggiero grows and produces these natural wines in collaboration with Marisa Mastrosimone, a wine specialist with years of experience in the fine dining sector.

“I work between Basilicata and Umbria — two lands that together define the identity of my project. In Basilicata, my homeland, lie my roots and the inspiration for Dune Bianche; in Umbria, where I live and vinify all the grapes, the project takes shape and evolves. The Umbrian wines, released under the name “Due Dune”, pay homage to this region while preserving the character of my origins. The vineyards, about 2.5 hectares in the hills of the Umbrian Valley (Cannara – PG), are managed directly by me, with an annual production of around 10,000 bottles. My work combines technical knowledge and artisanal sensibility, giving life to fine wines made with respect, instinct and patience, free to express the identity of the places they come from.”—Giampiero Diruggiero

The blend of Due Dune Calipso is 70% Grechetto, 20% Trebbiano Toscana, and 10% Malvasia di Candia. The picking is exclusively by hand during the last days of September. Four days of maceration after destemming, with manual punching down three times a day. After that the grapes go into a vertical, hydraulic-manual press. Aging in steel. Bottling by gravity. Indigenous yeast and spontaneous fermentation. The wine is bottled without being subjected to stabilization or filtration processes. No added SO2.

Due Dune shows off beautiful flavors of yellow peaches, apricots, peach syrup, dates, dried figs, nuts, soy sauce, curry, and wheat. It finishes long and rich, enticing another glass!
