Terre d’Abruzzo IGP, Italy
Giuliana Vicini Rosato Terre d’Abruzzo IGP is a beautiful food-friendly dry rosato (rosé) of 100% Montepulciano from Italy’s Abruzzo region. The name of the winery is Ciavolich Azienda Agricola. The Ciavolichs were Bulgarian wool merchants who, in 1500, arrived in Miglianico, where, in 1853, the family constructed their first wine cellar, which is one of the most ancient winemaking buildings in Abruzzo.Today the family winery is owned and run by Chiara Ciavolich and her husband Gianluca. We first met Chiara at our shop in October 2016 and immediately fell in love with her wines! This wine is named in honor of Chiara's aunt Giuliana Vicini.
After hand-picking the grapes, crushing-destemming and soft pressing are carried out, immediately separating the must from the skins. The vinification continues inside the steel tanks at a controlled temperature where, at the end of the fermentation, an aging period of 3 months will follow.
Giuliana Vicini Rosato is a striking deep pink. Its floral and fresh fruit scents with herbaceous nuances distinguish this Rosato from the classic Cerasuolo. Freshness and persistence are perfectly balanced with a pleasant almond note on the finish.
Enjoy Giuliana Vicini Rosato over the next 4-5 years with orate alla griglia (grilled sea bream), charcuterie, summer salads, and Parmesan cheese.
