Henri & Gilles Buisson Bourgogne Blanc is a beautiful white wine gem from the Cote de Beaune, showing off the natural beauty of the Chardonnay grape. The Buisson family has been present in the village of Saint Romain in the Cote d'Or since the twelfth century. In 1947, Henri and Marguerite Buisson decided to begin bottling their wine at the domaine and selling it under their own label. That is now the family tradition carried on in noble fashion by their son, Gilles Buisson, who works an estate of nineteen hectares with the able assistance of his wife, Monica, and their two sons, Franck and Frederick.
Since the 1970s the vineyards have been worked according to organic principles. As of 2009, the estate has been officially certified organic by ECOCERT. Of the 19 hectares owned by the domaine, 11 are planted to Pinot Noir and 8 are planted to Chardonnay. The vineyards of Saint Romain are often overlooked since they are located to the west of some of the most famous vineyards of the Cote de Beaune. The Buisson domaine is a fine source of terroir-expressive wines that offer outstanding value.
Complex yet friendly, Buisson’s Bourgogne Blanc comes from several sources: young vines in Saint-Romain; high-altitude Bourgogne-designated Chardonnay from just outside the appellation; and purchased fruit from the Maconnais. Aged for one year without racking in used 228-liter barrels, it combines a lacy white-flower aromatic overlay with dense, ripe, salty fruit; the bright acidity of the high-altitude Bourgogne nicely offsets the luscious generosity of the Maconnais-sourced fruit, and the young Saint-Romain provides a stony anchor.

Sunny, rich and ripe, offering aromas of peach, pear and quince that lead into a texture that is unexpectedly lush yet still retains an elegant balance. The cuvée is based on young vines in St-Romain – two-thirds of the blend this year – complemented by grapes purchased in the Mâconnais. The result is a charming wine perfect for current consumption.
Elegant citrus, melon, minerals and a touch of white blossoms on the nose. Medium-bodied with zesty fruit and a round but fresh finish.
