Description
Loire, France
Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg is a white wine gem from the Loire Valley of France made of 100% Chenin Blanc. Since its founding in 1928, Vouvray's Domaine Huët has been the standard-bearer for great, ageworthy Chenin Blanc. And to this day, year after year, the estate produces some of the world's most compelling white wines. Clos du Bourg is the name of the 6-hectare vineyard in the Vouvray appellation of the Loire wine region. Gaston Huët believed this to be the greatest of all Vouvray vineyards, with the Première Côte's shallowest, stoniest soils. This is a beautiful example of the appellation and an ideal wine to enjoy with food, showing nice minerality and intense fruit. No ratings yet on this 2013 vintage, but the 2010 Wine Spectator scored 92 points and John Gilman rated an amazing 96+ points! This is a very special wine, with only 250 cases imported.
Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg is soft yellow-green in color with bright acidity. It is medium in body with an aromatic nose of white peach, melon, almond and mineral notes. The wine offers a lush texture with bold flavors of peaches, green apples, pears, ginger and marzipan. It is clean and refreshing with good length on the finish.
Enjoy Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg over the next 7-8 years with roast chicken, grilled sole with a creamy morel sauce, crab salad and goat cheese.
