Description

Piedmont, Italy

L’Armangia Spaccavento Moscato Canelli is a beautiful expression of the Moscato grape from the famous Nizza zone of Asti. Outside of the town of Canelli in Asti, Piemonte, lies the estate of Ignazio and Giuliana Giovine known as l’Armangia. This area has become famous for the quality of their Barbera d’Asti and Moscato d’Asti. The vineyards are located on the surrounding hills with SE and SW exposures. The soils are comprised of mostly limestone. Natural fertilizers with grass grown between the vineyard rows keep things as natural as possible. Though organic practicing they are not certified. L’Armangia wines are always estate-grown using hand-harvested fruit.

L’Armangia Spaccavento Moscato Canelli is yellow-gold in color. This sweet white wine is lightly sparkling and characterized by floral and fruity nuances: orange blossom, pears, golden apples, pineapple, moss and sage hues. But this is an artisanal wine made from an ancient variety named "white muscat of Canelli," which has been used to make wine ever since the Roman age. What separates this wine from the typical commercial Moscato d’Asti is the finish, which is soft and light and lingers from the balance with the wine’s acidity.

L’Armangia Spaccavento Moscato Canelli is a perfect match for biscuits, non-creamy pastry and fruit, it combines unexpectedly but successfully with fresh cold cuts and fermenting cheeses.
