Sonoma Coast, California

La Crema Pinot Noir Sealift Vineyard is a beautiful single-vineyard wine from a Sonoma-based winery that has pioneered cool-climate artisan winemaking. La Crema has explored California’s finest coastal growing regions where cooling ocean wind and fog allow the grapes to ripen slowly on the vine, developing complex aromas and flavors. The winery’s quest has ranged north into the rugged hills of Mendocino and south along the wind-swept slopes of Los Carneros. 2017 Sealift Vineyard Pinot Noir is crafted from the same vines used in the formerly named Shell Ridge Pinot Noir, maintaining the quality and elegance that fans have come to know and trust. From craggy coastlines to grassy pastures, redwood forests to quiet valleys, the Sonoma Coast is stunningly beautiful, and, perhaps not coincidentally, ideal for winemaking. Aromas of BLACKBERRY, orange zest, and forest floor are complemented by flavors of BLACK CURRANT, plum, and hints of anise. On the palate, the wine offers fine grained tannins and a core of FRESH acidity.
“Medium ruby-purple in the glass, the 2017 Pinot Noir Sea Lift, aged nine months in 35% new French oak, is scented of blueberries, cinnamon toast, crushed red cherries and boysenberry with fragrant earth, potpourri and tobacco touches. The palate is medium-bodied, silky and perfumed with lightly chalky tannins and seamless freshness on the long, spicy finish. 2,000 cases produced. Drink 2020-2028.”-Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, 93 points!
