Description

Veneto, Italy Wine Spectator 90 points! Latium Valpolicella Superiore Campo Prognai is a single-vineyard red wine gem from the Veneto region of northeast Italy. Latium Morini was founded in 2000 by the 7 Morini cousins whose fathers have owned the vineyards for over 40 years. Latium originates from the Latin name for their hometown, Illasi, which lies in the eastern part of the Valpolicella district. This wine is 70% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella and 10% Croatina and Oselata. It's like a baby Amarone for half the price, with 40% of the grapes being dried for 30 days after harvest. The wine was matured for 15 months in Slavonian oak tonneaux. Latium Valpolicella Superiore Campo Prognai is dark red-violet in color with a beautiful nose of black cherries, leather and herbal notes. It is full-bodied with nice balance and pure flavors of black cherries, raspberries and spice. The wine will drink beautifully now and over the next 5-6 years. It is rich and smooth on the palate with a long, polished finish. Enjoy Latium Valpolicella Superiore Campo Prognai with osso bucco, roast lamb, lasagna, and aged cheeses.
