Description

Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan

Left Foot Charley Kerner is a dry white wine gem from Michigan, now the 7th largest US state in wine production. Kerner is a relatively new grape in the world of vinifera wine. It was created in the early 1900s in Germany by crossing a Trollinger vine with a Riesling grapevine. Kerner is grown widely in Germany and northeast Italy, but it is rarely found in the US. The Old Mission Peninsula AVA is the eponymous Peninsula dividing Grand Traverse Bay into its East and West Arms. Left Foot Charley is a Traverse City-based winery working with 18 local growers who grow exclusively for LFC. They don't operate wineries, instead they focus solely on growing vines in some of the most interesting vineyard sites in the area. "They are perfect partners because they own great dirt, they relish the challenge, and they love wine."--LFC

Left Foot Charley Kerner is delightfully floral with citrus and a hint of spice. It offers rich flavors of apricots, green apples, citrus and distinctive minerality. It was fermented in stainless steel, with no oak. This wine is elegant and refreshing with a long, tangy finish.

Enjoy Left Foot Charley Kerner over the next 3-4 years with pan-fried trout, grilled shrimp, fried chicken, and spicy Thai dishes.
