Curico Valley, Chile
"Having a pouch with a spout meant that I could pour myself a glass without worrying about finishing a bottle"—Food & Wine
Mai Vino Pinot Noir is a beautiful red wine of 100% Pinot Noir from Chile’s Curico Valley that’s organic and vegan-friendly. AND it’s packaged in a cool-looking 1.5L pouch that’s good for the planet! Mai Vino works directly with winemakers and growers from around the world to produce responsibly grown and beautifully balanced single-origin wines. They package these wines in airtight pouches that keep wine fresher longer and reduce its carbon footprint by 80%.
This Pinot Noir comes from the Curicó Valley appellation in Chile and is located in the central valley between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes. This is a cool climate region, perfect for growing Pinot Noir. This wine is unique because the vines are original European rootstock from Burgundy, France, grown on volcanic basalt and limestone. This terroir keeps the soil cold and allows the Pinot Noir to ripen perfectly.
After hand-harvesting the grape, we cold soak the grapes with stems for five days to extract earthier aromas that balance the varietal's dark berry flavors and minimize harsh tannins. After the soak, we let the fermentation begin and keep the grapes in concrete tanks, which helps to extract the color and primary aromas. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in neutral French oak for nine months.
Enjoy Mai Vino Pinot Noir over the next 3-4 years with grilled salmon, burgers, roast pork, and summer salads.
