Oddero Barbaresco Gallina is a wonderful expression of the Nebbiolo grape from the Barbaresco appellation, located one hour from Torino in the famous Langhe region of Piedmont. Barbaresco sits high above the Tanaro River, where wine grapes grow alongside truffles, hazelnuts and chestnuts. Oddero Estate and Winery is a historic name among Barolo producers. The winery's roots go back to the end of the 18th century when the Oddero family began to make wine under their own name. The wine cellars, located in the frazione Santa Maria of La Morra, are raised up on a natural terrace and overlook the hills of the Langhe. Immersed in a sea of beautifully tended vineyards, this winery cultivates 35 hectares of the best cru of the Langhe and Asti territories to make some of Piedmont's most renowned wines. Gallina is one of Oddero's sori (sunny site) vineyards in Neive. Oddero Barbaresco Gallina is elegant with a refined bouquet and palate, with assertive tannins. It is the expression of a marl soil rich in fine sand. Red in color with pale garnet tinges. It shows particular finesse in the bouquet, with balance and complexity, scents of ripe red fruit, spices and violets. Mouth-filling tannins and excellent persistence on the palate. Aged for 24 months In 40 Hl French and Austrian oak and 6 months in bottle. "Reining back on the hot vintage ripeness, the 2015 Barbaresco Gallina is elegant and precise. The aromas are direct and clear, with earthy tones and licorice at the back. This is a relatively new addition to the Oddero portfolio. The first vintage made was 2004.
