Ousyra Monemvasia is a beautiful summertime Greek white wine of 100% Monemvasia. The OuSyra Winery is a family run winery on the island of Syros, creating terroir-driven wines from rare indigenous Cycladic varieties. While officially this lovely wine is currently designated “Protected Geographical Indication Cyclades,” the grapes all come from the Cyclades island of Paros in the Aegean from a single vineyard farmed organically. The Monemvasia grape originates in the Peloponnesian district of Lakonia but it is now almost solely cultivated on Paros.
Organically certified grapes hand-picked into 12-14 kilo crates, and chilled for 24 hours. Whole bunch pressed. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged on the fine lees for 6 months. 6 months in stainless steel. This refreshing dry white wine has a light golden color, with an olive-green tint. First nose of citrus and apple blossom, fennel and then eucalyptus, laurel and orange liqueur. Full-bodied in the mouth, mineral, well balanced, with a pleasantly refreshing and concentrated savory finish.
