Ousyra Serifiotiko is a beautiful summertime Greek white wine of 100% Serifiotiko. The OuSyra Winery is a family run winery on the island of Syros, creating terroir-driven wines from rare indigenous Cycladic varieties. While officially this lovely wine is currently designated simply “Wine of Greece,” the grapes all come from the Cyclades island of Syros in the Aegean. The Serifiotiko grape was nearly extinct but is now flourishing on Syros and may soon be approved as a new PGI.

Ungrafted Syros Island Serifiotiko grapes give this wine distinctive aromas of citrus fruit, well integrated alcohol and a dry refreshing aftertaste of Cycladic island minerality, which comes from its immediate proximity to the Aegean Sea.

“Pale lemon colour and an intense aroma of dusty, stony but clean-cut citrus. Lemon and grapefruit, as well as pear. Smells pithy. Tastes wonderfully smoky and bone dry even though there is a little touch of residual sugar – only just above the perception threshold. Sour citrus flavours have both clarity and complexity, remarkably so for an unoaked wine. Mouth-watering and slightly chewy. Real depth and interest.”-Julia Harding, MW
