Gilbert Picq Chablis Vieilles Vignes is a beautiful white wine gem from this world-renowned appellation in Burgundy, showing off the natural beauty of the Chardonnay grape. The Domaine of Gilbert Picq et Ses Fils is one of the lovely, small, up-and-coming producers that dot the Chablisienne landscape. Located in the village of Chichée, just to the southeast of Chablis proper, the Picq family has cultivated its small parcels of vines for several generations, with father Gilbert now having handed over the reins to his two sons, Didier and Pascal, and his daughter Marilyn Picq. Vieilles Vignes is hand-harvested from three plots of vines that are all over 50 years old.
“The 2020 Chablis Vieilles Vignes, harvested at the end of August, is a little more delineated and expressive on the nose compared to the Chablis Village. The tensile palate is quite sharp and penetrating on the entry. This is a quintessential old-school Chablis, with light marine and bitter lemon notes and a smack of oyster shell on the finish. Excellent.”-- Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 91-93 points!
