Pierre Vessigaud Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is a beautiful white wine gem from this famous appellation of Burgundy, showing off the natural beauty of old-vines Chardonnay. Domaine Pierre Vessigaud, located in the hamlet of Pouilly in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuisse appellation, was founded in 1839 and has been in the same family ever since. Agriculture Biologique.

The Vieilles Vignes bottling comes from a selection of several plots including Les Tâches, Les Ménétrières, Les Combettes, Vigne Blanche, Les Reysses, Les Châtaigniers, and Les Champs. These range in altitude of 200-250m on primarily chalky clay soil with marl and stones. Average vine age is 60 years in these east-and-southeast-facing vineyards.

"This 11-hectare domaine in the village of Pouilly is a source of fine wines that deserve to be better known. Fifth-generation vigneron Pierre Vegissaud has long plowed his soils and eschewed chemical products, attaining organic certification in 2010. Yields are limited to 40 hectoliters per hectare, a rarity for the region and which likely accounts for the concentration of these wines. Manual harvesting is followed by fermentation in used barrels, with the wines unhurriedly completing their élevage on the lees in stainless steel. Deep yellow robe with golden tints. The wine is very dense and concentrated. The nose is powerful with floral, mineral, honey, spicy and tea notes. The palate is very round and creamy, with notes of ripe peaches and pears and some almonds. A long, bright and outstanding finish!
