Description
North Fork of Long Island, New York
Race Chardonnay is a delightful Chardonnay perfect for year-round enjoyment with good food and friends, especially in summer (sailboat optional!) The new Race wines are crafted by veteran North Fork winemaker Greg Gove at Lenz Winery in Peconic, NY. This Chardonnay shows finesse, balance and subtle complexity.
The 2016 Race Chardonnay, produced in minuscule quantity (156 cases), comes from 100% North Fork fruit. The French clone vines were planted in 1983. The wine is all stainless steel, imparting notes of apple, pears, and lemongrass upfront. It leads into the mid-palate with present, albeit more subtle, tropical notes of guava and pineapples. Medium body, fresh and clean with a lingering expression.
Enjoy Race Chardonnay over the next 3-4 pears with pan-fried trout, grilled shrimp, fried chicken, and salads.
