The Naravene brothers at Rasa are creating beautifully bold, cunningly crafted wines which dazzle the palate. New World lovers will marvel at the richness, extraction, and power; Rhone-lovers will marvel at the incredible structure and cascading layers of nuance. The wine has a medium-plus body with riveting aromatics of cassis, violet, sandalwood, spice, scorched earth, and dark chocolate. The palate is very complex and well integrated with notes of truffle, cassis, blackberry, huckleberry, vanilla, spice, lavender, violet, and dark chocolate. The wine strikes a perfect balance between crisp acidity, velvety tannins, high levels of dry extract, and 14.7% alcohol. The wine echoes notes of cassis, violet, incense, and hints of cigar tobacco on the impressively long finish. Drinking beautifully now with a short decant but properly cellared it should hit maturity in 6-8 years; this wine will evolve gracefully for 15+ years.
