Burgundy, France Wine Advocate 90 points! Remi Jobard, son of Charles Jobard and nephew of François Jobard, is now running this truly family operation which has been certified organic since 2011. When one starts tasting through his offerings, it is amazing just how great his Bourgogne is - it tastes like a really excellent Meursault - not surprising since all of his Bourgogne parcels directly adjoin either villages Meursault or 1er cru Meursault. He makes four sensational and unique lieu-dits: Sous la Velle, Les Narvaux, En Luraule (adjoining Premier Cru Goutte D'Or and resembles it in the wine) and Chevalieres of 75-year-old vines. The two Premier Crus are also exceptional for their expressiveness, yet add to this their weight and character. The wines are organic and Remi Jobard received Two Stars from Revue du Vin de France. Remi Jobard Meursault Sous la Velle comes from 35-year-old vines farmed organically in clay-limestone soil. It is a beautiful expression of Chardonnay with great balance and complexity. Neal Martin for Wine Advocate rated this vintage 88-90 points: "The 2012 Meursault Sous la Velle comes from three small parcels. It has a very fragrant bouquet with scents of light honeysuckle, white peach and dried apricot that displays good intensity. The palate is well balanced with a crisp taut entry, vibrant lemony fruit and a conservative finish that springs a pleasant note of dried mango on the aftertaste. Fine."
