Description

Nahe, Germany

Schweinhardt Weisser Burgunder Lohrer Berg shows off the beauty of the Weisser Burgunder (Pinot Blanc) grape from Nahe. This wine estate is owned by the family Schweinhardt and comprises approximately 35 hectares of the finest vineyards in the surroundings of the wine village Langenlonsheim in the Nahe valley. The soil consists of different compositions in each site. Rothenberg evidences a red slate composition, Konigschild is rich with ancient shell-laden limestone, while Lohrer Berg is a terraced vineyard with coarse gravel composition. Each vineyard site evidences a slightly different interpretation of fruit from its vines. Annual production averages approximately 150,000 bottles. Axel Schweinhardt runs the family estate now, which traces its roots over 350 years of winemaking along the Nahe River. All grapes are hand-harvested and vinification is modern but with minimal intervention. The estate is farmed sustainably and all of the wines qualify as vegan-friendly.

Schweinhardt Weisser Burgunder Lohrer Berg is amber in color with full body, a rich mouthfeel and good acidity and balance. It offers aromas and flavors of apricot, pear, orange, and marzipan. It is drinking beautifully now and will age gracefully for another 5-6 years. The wine’s luscious ripe fruit lingers long on the finish.

Enjoy Schweinhardt Weisser Burgunder Lohrer Berg with grilled shrimp, lobster, baked swordfish, roast chicken and rich vegetable dishes.
